CRAZY neighbors!
- The people who live below us have been noisy at night since the moment we moved in. They play loud bass music from 11:30 PM until like 6:30 AM, their dogs bark and fight with each other during the night, and there is always banging on the walls during the night. It was really hard to fall asleep and sleep all through the night while I was pregnant.
- On Christmas Eve I got sick of it so I wrote a note and put it on their door. I just asked them politely if they could turn their music down. But, they never did. So, I went and complained to the apartment office a few days later. But, that didn't do anything either.
- Well, the night before I was scheduled to go to the hospital it was really bugging us. We wanted to get plenty of rest for the big day. So, at like 1:00 AM Pete went and knocked on their door and asked them if they could turn it down again. They still didn't.
- Then, the night we got home from the hospital we were awoken at 3:45 AM by banging noises and barking. It was so loud! It sounded like someone was being thrown against the wall. The next day we went and asked the apartment office what we should do next time we heard it. They told us to call the police.
- So, the following night, we heard it again at 1:00 AM. So, we called the police. The police officer was really nice. He could hear the loud bass rattling the ceiling. He said it was too loud and they could get a ticket for it. So, he went downstairs and talked to the people. I thought that would make it stop. But, after the officer left there was still loud music and banging.
- The next day the girl who lives downstairs {with her boyfriend} came up to talk to us. She didn't apoligize she just came up to tell us that they can hear us too. We told her it's a little different though because our noise was during the day and theirs was during the night {which is also quiet hours for the whole complex}. We told her sleep was just really important lately because I was pregnant and now we have a baby that's a few days old.
- That night {Friday night} we were all ready for bed. Bryson, Brodey, and Pete were all laying down and I was brushing my teeth. All of a sudden we hear loud popping and lights sparking through our bedroom window. We thought we were getting shot at. So, Pete rolled over on top of Bryson and I grabbed for Brodey. Bryson was screaming his head off. We were all so scared. When the noise finally stopped Pete and I ran out onto our balcony to see what had happened. Smoke filled the house when we opened the door. We saw fireworks all over our porch. Someone had thrown them up onto our porch. We didn't see them but we're pretty sure it was the people downstairs. Who else would have something against us? Pete and I were SO mad. Pete started screaming stuff really loud. I bet he woke up the whole complex. He went downstairs with a bat and looked around the whole building but didn't see anyone. I called the cops and waited on the porch for them to show up. I had to hold onto Bryson because he was still so scared. Brodey actually slept through the incident. When the cops came we told them what happened, but they couldn't do much because we didn't see them. He went down to try to talk to the people downstairs but they didn't answer their door. What cowards. We couldn't believe they would stoop so low. We had to rock Bryson to sleep in our arms because he wouldn't lay back down. When he was asleep we all layed down again for attempt #2. Pete and I both couldn't fall asleep. We were both scared that they would do something else to us. And Pete kept telling me ways he was going get them back. Needless to say, it was a long night. Here's a picture of the fireworks we found on our balcony:
- Late Saturday night I was walking to my stairwell and the guy downstaris opened his door just as I was walking by it. Without even thinking I just blurted out,"Don't EVER pull that crap again!!" He said, "What are you talking about?" I said, "You know exactly what I'm talking about." I was brave and told him how it had scared the crap out of my kids, how we asked him nicely before we went to the police, how we weren't trying to be mean-we just needed our sleep, how we didn't want a war, ect. I asked him if we could just put it all behind us and both try to be quit. He shook his head yes. That wasn't good enough for me. So, I made him commit to it verbaly {twice}. It think by the time I was done talking, he was scared of me. I was amazing. I felt like wonder-woman. I can't believe I stood up to a man and put him in his place.
- That night they were really quiet. We actually got a good nights sleep. I don't remember the last time I got that. And, I was finally able to see what Brodey's sleeping/eating schedule was. He only woke up twice. It was so nice. Last night they were also quiet. So, we had two nights of great sleep. I feel like a new woman. It's sad that I'm getting more sleep with a newborn around. Usually it's the opposite. Ha ha.
Congrats on the new baby!!! He looks adorable. Glad you finally got the neighbors to stop making all the racket. How frustrating for you guys! It was fun to see you at the reception, in person. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Kaylea. You ARE wonderwoman!! I don't think I could have done that. Geez what a nightmare!
ReplyDeleteGood for you to stand up for yourself! Our neighbors have "Mexican parties" like every other weekend and play obnoxious mexican music so loud that all the kids' windows vibrate. Then they leave beer cans and bottles in our yard and crap all over the place. They are very nice people, just don't have any manners when it comes to having parties. Sometimes their guests don't leave until like 3 of 4 in the morning! I even saw a guy put a bottle of something alcoholic under the wheel well of Chad's work truck! What an idiot!! I wanted to run out there at 2am and tell him that I just watched him do it!
ReplyDeleteGood for you to stand up for your family!!! I am really quiet and to myself when it comes to stuff like confronting people. But when it comes to my family...you better watch out. I become a totally different person and I will go all out telling them how it should be...haha.
ReplyDeleteI can not believe that someone would do that. You asked nicely many times but they still proceeded to make MORE noise. I am glad that you were able to stand up to him and tell him how it is.
ReplyDeleteYou go girl!! I am so proud of you. Some people are such pricks soetimes. Our neiighbors are the same way- their music is so loud someitmes it makes the pics and wall decor shake. But a little bit of relief for us- they just put a "for sale" sign in their yard !!!! Halelejuah!!!! glad you got in his face- i would have too-even with me being as shy as i am- i would have gone postal on his behind if i had too.
ReplyDeleteHa! I LOVE it. Way to go!! Oh, I am so proud of you!! I hope I could do that if I had to. I doubt I could. Oh, that is so awesome!! Enjoy your sleep!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nightmare and having to deal with that while your pregnant and now having a newborn. I would have been such a baby, that is totally awesome that you stood up to him. I could just picture it : ) I am glad your getting more sleep now that's nice with a newborn.
ReplyDeleteThe joys of apratments. So sorry and what great timing they had. I hope they are nice from now on.
ReplyDeleteThat's crazy insane- what a bunch of buttheads! I'm so proud of you for standing up for your family and not letting them think you're scared! I can't believe they would be so bold to be that mean with two babies! You go girl!
