Another Hospital Visit for Pete
Here he is chillin' on his hospital bed.
Here is his {pinky} toe after it was snapped back into place.
Yesterday morning Pete was trying to be nice and let me sleep in. So, when Bryson woke up at 7:15 he crept out of the bedroom to go hang out with Bryson in the living room. He walked over to a switch on the wall to turn the fan off because it was cold. He then turned to walk over to the couch and ran right into our love seat. His toe hit the bottom part that's made of wood. He fell to the ground in pain. I thought he was laughing at first. I thought him and Bryson were having a good time. But, then Pete starting screaming and Bryson started crying. So, I jumped out of bed to see what was going on. Pete was in pain on the floor. And, Bryson was curled up on the couch, scared to death. He didn't know what was wrong with his dad. Pete told me what happened. I checked his toe out and it didn't look good. His pinky toe was facing out to the side, rather than forward. I knew we had to take him somewhere to get it fixed. I didn't know how I was going to get him down a flight of stairs {with me being pregnant...making me a little crippled myself}. I tried to call for help but couldn't find any. So, I took Bryson down to the car first and buckled him in. Then, I came back up for Pete. Me managed to get him down. It was interesting. I didn't know of any Urgent Care places near our new house so we drove into Mesa. I took him to the new Banner Gateway Hospital {BTW, it's SO nice}. There wasn't a wait. We got right in. They put us in this super nice room while they checked him out. There was a flat screen t.v. with cable in the room. It was just what we needed for Bryson. He got to sit and watch his morning cartoons like usual. It kept him quiet and happy. They x-rayed Pete's foot. It runs out that he didn't break his toe. But, he dislocated it. So, the doctor had to snap in back into place. Bryson and I went out of the room while the doctor did it. But, he screamed so loud that we could still hear him. I think everyone heard him. All the nurses were like, "What's going on in there?" It was funny. The wrapped his toes together, put on a funny shoe, gave him pain medication, and sent us on our merry way. It was pretty crazy. We went to my parents house to pick up a pair of crutches because he couldn't put any weight on his foot still and I couldn't really help him walk {I can barely walk}. Then, we took him home. We had a lot of fun trying to get him up the stairs again. But, made in all in one piece. He's just been taking is easy trying to get it nursed back to health so he can get back to work on Monday. I've decided that Pete needs to have health insurance always! He's always managing to get hurt {in the straingest ways too}.
wow, what a scary situation. I've never dislocated or broken anything in my life, and I think I'm lucky---everyone always says those are the most painful things ever!! Amazing how much trouble one little toe can cause.
ReplyDeletewhat a crazy day! that had to hurt! i've only broken my wrist, but i've hurt my knee in dance, but nothing our of socket!! i can just imagine being 7 months preggo, carrying people up and down stairs, and taking care of your fam... crazy!! you are amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteMan! Poor guy! Hope its all healed up my Monday!
ReplyDeleteI've been there done that about a zillion times. The first time i did it, my pinkie toe immediatley and about 5 inches down my entire foot turned purple. It was bruised sooooo bad. I collapsed on the floor adn couldnt walk for like 2 days. So it finally gets better then I do the same thing again to the same toe. It gets better then a few days later happens again. And again and again. I think I am doomed to have my pinkietoe broke or whatever for the rest of my life. It seems like as soon as it heals from one time, I go and do something dumb or stupid again and it jams cracks, breaks, or gets dislocated once again. I hate it soo much.
ReplyDeleteOuch!! Poor guy that looks bad. I know what you mean about insurance I don't think we could live without it. Breck is my emergency kid : )
ReplyDeleteI hope Pete gets better soon. That's probably not good for the job that he has now.
Ouch, how painful! That's the hospital where I had Cash, I loved it there, everybody was so nice and they had the best food!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, OUCH! You guys have had so many interesting hospital visits this year! Hopefully 2008 will be less "exciting" for you guys! Has Bryson ended up in the ER yet?
ReplyDeleteYou live quite the adventurous life! Never a dull moment at your house! You'd think with 4 kids that I'd be in the ER more than you, but happily, I'm NOT! :) Read what did happen on Sunday though...on my blog ;)
