Closet Full of Smiles

So, I decided I wanted to make sure I had clothes for my next boy. So, I went to our storage unit to retrieve some boxes that have been stored for over 2 years. It was quite a job sorting thought the boxes trying to find what I wanted, lift the boxs out of the unit, and load them into the car. I found lots of kitchen stuff that I have been missing so dearly {mixer, blender, bread maker, juicer, electric knife, electric can opener, ect..}. When I put the stuff into the storage unit, I had no idea they would be there that long. So, it was like Christmas looking through it all. I found a couple of boxes of baby clothes. When I got home and went through them, however, I wasn't all that excited about using them again. They look really worn out and have spit up stains on them. So, I pretty much have nothing for the baby {depressing}. Am I allowed to have another shower? It's been 3 1/2 years since my last one. Anyway...the next day I was tired of looking at all the stuff that I had retrieved from the storage unit. I needed a place to put it all. Since space is limited at our little place I decided to clean out my two hall closets. I didn't think it would take me very long.....but, six and a half hours later.... it was completed. During my "de-junking/sorting" I found lots of good o'l memories that put a smile on my face. I thought I'd share some with you....and see if they put one on yours too.
I found stuff from my first love. He left on his mission when I was a sophmore in High School.

He gave me the note and locket above for Christmas before he left. I wore it all through high school not knowing what was inside. Everyone wanted to open it for me. But, I waited until he got home. When it was finally opened, this is what it said......

Crazy, huh? It was such a great time in my life. Getting his letters kept me happy all through High School. But, long distance kind of kept us apart after he got home and we didn't end up together. But, I'm grateful for all that he taught me and for all the great memories he left behind.

I found this picture and just laughed. I was such a dork. Why am I in the tree? Some of you bloggers are also in this picture! Katie and Heather....look familiar?

I won a photography contest in High School, with the City of Tempe. My picture was hanging up in a museum for a while. That made me smile. I wish I could take more pictures. It makes me happy.

I worked at Mi Amigos when I was a Senior. I have fond memories of that.

I had totally forgotten that in High School they did a Data Match Program to see who you were the most compatible with. I laughed when I read a few of the names. Some of you bloggers dated some of the guys or are married to them now.

14 Year old dances! Do you remember those?! What ever happened to them? Do they even have them anymore? It was the "cool place" to be when we were 14. I hardly missed any....and was devestated when I did.

Paper dolls! I loved paper dolls. I had so many. I kept most of them too. I don't know what I plan on doing with them. My girls {if I ever have any} probably won't want them. They'll want a cell phone when they are like 10 years old. They won't care that I played with paper at that same age.

Polly Pocket, aw...I totally loved these teeny tiny little dolls. I used to have several of them. I remember loosing one at recess. I was so sad. I looked everywhere for her. But, of course I probably never would have found her in the big huge field. It would have been like finding a needle in a hay stack. Have you seen the Polly Pockets now? They are SO different. They are like half of the size of a barbie. Makes me feel old.

I was impressed when I found all these ribbons. I had TWO first place, TWO second place, and only ONE third place. It made me smile to think that I used to be really athletic {before I had children}. It made me set a goal for after I have this baby. I'm going to get back to my pre-baby weight. 125 pounds. I can do it. I'm going to hit the gym this time.

Cabbage Patch Kids. Gotta love them. I also found my first Cabbage Patch doll. Should have taken a picture of that too.

Kay, I found this picture and couldn't stop laughing. Hopefully Jamie won't kill me for putting this on her. I love you jamie! I have two words. FUNNEL BANGS! I totally had them too!

I.D. cards. I always hated the pictures on them. I do miss my long hair though. I'm growing it out...for reals this time! 95/96? Seems like such a long time ago. Makes me feel old.

My first Secret Admirer letter. It's really funny. I wonder what ever happened to this boy. I love the part in the letter where he says, " I think you're the prettiest girl in the ward....I have no chance with you....there's probably lots of guys that like you." Glad I used to be such a hot item. Makes me smile.

{end of the letter...it was a 2 pager, baby!}

Teen Elect. We had a love hate relationship. Do they even do this anymore?? If not, they should. I thought it was pretty cool. The teenagers these days need it more than we did back then. Have you heard what goes on in Jr. High's and High Schools now? Mormon girls and boys are kissing the same sex all over campus. And, at girls camp this year my mom caught a few girls {on several different nights} in the same sleeping bag with their pants off?? HELLO!! What is happening?

Jonathan Taylor Thomas! Need I say more? I LOVED him. I signed up for his club. He sent me this autographed picture. How cool/ lucky was I?

Cassette tape of NSYNC. I was SO cool. And even cooler now for saving it all these years! Does anyone want to borrow it? I'd let you...free of charge even.
Well, I hope I brought back some old memories for some of you. Peace!
