Ward Camp Out

This past weekend was our ward camp out. We're in the same ward as my family. So, we drove up with them. We went to a camping area just past Payson. It was a great spot. There were a lot of people that showed up. We camped next to our friends, the Budges. When we got there my dad and brother set up the tent. They forgot the tent poles so they had to get creative. They put it up with sticks, rocks, rope, and cables. It was pretty funny. Everyone had a good laugh. Then, we made dutch oven dinner {my dads speciality}. While we waited for it to cook Karisa and I chatted by the fire, Pete and Sven collected fire wood, Bryson and his girlfriend Brittin followed them around trying to collect sticks too. The best part for the kids was throwing the sticks in the fire. We had a hard time keeping them away from it. We let them roast marshmellows. They thought they were in heaven. They were so cute together all night. They kept saying the funniest stuff. We all just sat and laughed at them. They are such good buddies. They never fight with each other. Everyone at camp went to bed pretty early. The budges, Alans, and us, put our kids to bed and then stayed up and talked. The Alans had to take off because their kids woke up and wondered through camp to find them. We went to bed around 2 AM. It was so much fun. Thanks Budges. The next morning we ate breakfast as a ward. After that we just hung around and talked while the kids played. Then, we started packing up our stuff. We had to leave around 10 because Pete had to be back for work. It was a fun night. We need to go camping more often. How bout' it, budges? Up for round two? Karisa and I sitting by the fire eating peach cobbler {excuse my mismatch-ness...it was the first sweater I saw in the closet}

Bryson and Brittin collecting firewood {same goes for his jacket...lol}

Pete and Sven chaperoning the kids by the fire

We were tired of telling the kids to stand back away from the fire so we tried getting them to watch Elmo. It worked for a few minutes....

then they ran off to play in the hammock.

Here's our GHETTO tent! It's even tied to the van. Awesome, huh? Can you see the stick in the arch way of the front door? Rusty found an arched stick to fit perfect. What a scout!

  2. haha, what a fun post. Camping with kids is great, I think more people should do it. The kids always do it and the adults (depending on who goes) have fun too.

  3. That looks like a lot of fun. I love camping as long as it's only for a few days. Love the ghetto tent. That's awesome they pulled it off.
